“How was court?” Dee asked when Ryo got back to the precinct. “Judge Harrison give ya a hard time over your tie?”
 

“She wasn’t thrilled, I don’t think she likes stripes, but she was okay with it once I explained.” Hanging his suit jacket on the back of his desk chair, Ryo sat down with a weary sigh, wishing he was already home; testifying in court was always stressful and draining, but in the middle of all the holiday season chaos, it was ten times worse. “Think I’ll hit the sales after Christmas, see if I can pick up a dozen or so plain, dark-colored ties and keep them in my locker.”

 
“On top of the ones you already ordered?”
 

“I’ll keep those at home. Maybe put a couple in my car’s glovebox. That way, no matter where I am, I’ll have ties available that’re suitable for court, and I won’t have to risk getting cited for contempt.”
 

“Ah, c’mon, bud. Even that battleaxe Harrison wouldn’t’ve thrown the book at ya over a striped tie!”
 

“She said it was a bold choice.”
 

“Seriously?”
 

“Those were her exact words.”
 

Dee shook his head. “Sheesh. That woman seriously needs to lighten up.”
