“Ianto, a word please. In my office.”
Sighing, Ianto set aside what he’d been doing and trailed after his boss. He’d known this was coming, but that didn’t mean he was ready for it. He wondered how much trouble he was in.
“Yes, Sir?”
“Close the door, please.”
Doing as instructed, Ianto went to stand before Jack’s desk, as the man himself took a seat behind it.
“So. You shot Owen.”
“I did. Sir,” Ianto added quickly.
“To prevent him from opening the Rift.”
“That was the idea, but… It didn’t work.” Even with a bullet in his shoulder, Owen had still contrived to open the Rift, rescuing Jack and Tosh from the past. “I’m sorry.”
“For shooting Owen, or for not stopping him?”
“I won’t apologise for shooting him, it seemed the only thing that might keep him from interfering with the Rift machine, and I only hit him in the shoulder.”
“I’m aware of that. The question is, what were you aiming at? Owen seems convinced you were trying to shoot him in the head and missed.”
Ianto frowned in indignation. “Unlike Owen, I actually hit what I’m aiming at!”
“That’s what I thought. Good work. That’s all.”
