“What in HELL happened?” Ianto demanded as he walked over to the SUV and examined the damage.
“It wasn’t my fault!” Jack sounded indignant. “I wasn’t even moving; I was stopped at a red light! I was on the correct side of the road and everything, then this idiot swung his truck around the corner, took it too wide, and crashed into me! Tore off the entire front wing, the wing mirror, and dented the door! Probably damaged the tyres as well.” There were streaks of rubber on the road where the SUV had been propelled almost onto the pavement.
“Where’s this truck now?”
“Drove off, but I got the number plate. I gave it to the police already.”
Across the street, several police officers were clustered around a pair of patrol cars. One of them was holding a number plate.
“Ah. I see.”
“I’m just waiting for the tow truck, but I thought I’d better call you. I’ll need a ride home.” Jack looked at the SUV again. “You know, I’m glad I didn’t slip through the lights on amber.”
Ianto raised an eyebrow. “Seriously?”
“The SUV’s built like a tank, but the car behind me would’ve been flattened.”
The End
