A/N: Double drabble.
“D’you ever wish you could be a bird?” Ryo asked, out of nowhere. They were sitting in their unmarked car, hoping to catch their suspect when he arrived back at the cheap hotel where he had a room. Not quite a stakeout but they’d struck out at all the places he was known to frequent, so this was their final hope of nabbing him without it becoming a manhunt.
Dee turned to stare at his lover; sometimes he wondered if he’d ever really understand Ryo. “No, can’t say I ever do, although… Bein’ a pigeon could be useful right about now. Could fly to the window of our guy’s room and see if he’s there, no search warrant needed. Would save havin’ to sit out here waitin’.”
“Mm, I guess.”
“But that’s not what you meant.” It wasn’t a question.
“No. I was just wondering what it might be like to be way up there, above the city, looking down on everything. Just being able to fly away from everything, to be that free.”
“Instead of bein’ bored outta our minds waitin’ for someone who probably won’t show, ‘cause he knows we’re lookin’ for him by now.”
Ryo nodded. “Exactly.”
