Summary: Dee is a good cop, but not always proud of what he has to do.

A/N: Double drabble.
Some people still thought of Dee as a bit of a maverick, but he’d never thought of himself that way, even back when he was in uniform, doing what was necessary to expose a dirty cop. He was simply a guy who got things done, and if he skirted the line of what was permissible, he never crossed it. Well, okay, once in a while he might be what some might consider overly rough with a suspect, but only if they absolutely deserved it, like the psycho who’d abducted Carol and all those other girls.
He had never taken a bribe, and never would, his honesty and integrity were all-important, and although he did cut a few corners in the interests of getting a scumbag off the streets, he never planted or falsified evidence, never lied under oath, never tricked suspects or forced confessions.
He was a damned good cop, one of the NYPD’s best, and like all good cops, he preferred not to shoot to kill, but sometimes there was no alternative. It had been one life to save many, so he’d taken the shot. The worst part was knowing it was what the shooter had wanted all along.
