Weather like this always did something to Ryo, making him feel more alive than ever, and filling him with energy, no matter how tired he was.


The wind was warm, blustery, tugging at his hair and clothes as if urging him to hurry. He didn’t even care about the occasional spatters of rain; there was never enough to dampen his spirits, gone almost before it started.


An hour ago, Ryo had been sat at his desk at the 27th Precinct, his head aching, barely able to concentrate on the paperwork he was supposed to be doing. Normally, he would get on with it without complaint, but there were some days, like this one, when the effort became almost insurmountable and he wished he could be like Dee, able to take catnaps at his desk. What he wouldn’t give for ten minutes’ sleep.


Now though, out in the brisk wind, he was filled with the same exuberance he always felt on blustery days. His headache was gone and he felt wide-awake, ready to tackle anything. He almost hoped the suspect they’d come to take in for questioning would try to get away, just so he’d have an excuse to give chase.
