Knitted Pumpkins!

With Halloween only a couple of days away, I thought I'd better post some pics of the pumpkins I knitted for the kids. I managed to get 100 done, using several different yarns, so here are some of them...

They're so cute! Is it for trick-or-treaters? (Not sure how common that is in the UK these days). Such a fun idea!

Thank you! Yes, they are. I go all out at Halloween, and I promised the kids there would be pumpkins this year because I ran out last year. There will also be meeces, mini meeces, bouncy spiders, pendants, and candy of course. I usually get quite a few kids, so I'm hoping this year I will too, despite the weather forecast and the cold I'm trying to fight.

I had a couple of girls (one local, one not) come back to tell me my house is the best in this area, AND the area where the friend lives. That made me happy =D

These pumpkins are supposed to be enough to last a couple of years, maybe three if not everyone grabs one. I usually get 30+ trick or treaters, so it's a busy day.

I was so busy last night I'm done in. Must have had close to 50 Trick or Treaters. Only 53 pumpkins left out of 100. I was on my feet for about 6.5 hours, most of that time outside. Last couple of hours was taking things down and taking them indoors so I could shot the garage door. But it was fun, lots of happy kids and parents.

But it sounds like a really lovely evening. Those children and parents will remember you forever as the nice, kind lady who gave them treats.

OMG they're absolutely adorable!! I had no idea you knitted, but they're just .. so freaking good. The kids of your local area are very lucky ones to have you around! I do have to ask, how long have you been making these lil' things? :O

Thank you! Yep, been a knitter for more than 40 years.

I knitted most of these pumpkins in Sept, early Oct. There were a few I'd knitted a year or so ago but never sewn up. So, I have 100 for this year. This is the second batch of pumpkins, I made some a few years ago. But I also make Meeces (knitted mice), Mini Meeces (little knitted mice brooches) and a shop in town is currently selling my knitted bee brooches. I make other stuff for the kids too. There are bouncy spiders, but they're sewn. My house is very popular at Halloween *grins*

The mice and spiders were originally made to sell at craft fairs more than 20 years ago, but no one seemed to want them. Now everyone wants them and I've made hundreds.

I guess it depends on the right crowd in the case of the Meeces and spiders, haha. I have always been kinda weird and into cute lil mice, so I am very glad you found some takers for them!

But wooow, 40 years.. No wonder the pumpkins ya showed off look so skillful! :O

The meeces and pumpkins proved very popular tonight. So many Trick or Treaters, I'm exhausted!

Thanks! Started with baby clothes when my sister was expecting, moved on to sweaters for myself and family, and the occasional novelty items. Knitting is so versatile. I just don't much like the sewing together part *grins*
