“Not exactly beach weather, is it?” Ianto grumbled as he followed Jack over the rocks in search of a mysterious something that might or might not be there. Drizzle bordering on sleet was falling, dampening everything, and he pulled his coat collar higher, then tugged the black woollen beanie lower over his ears, trying to keep them from freezing.
Jack glanced back over his shoulder. “You didn’t have to come with me. You could’ve stayed back at the Hub, where it’s warmer, or in the car.”
“Right, because it would be such a good idea to let you wander about on the beach alone, in bad weather, when it’ll be dark in less than an hour. Better to be here and at least have a chance of keeping you out of trouble than to have to come out here in the dark to find and rescue you. Again.”
“You don’t have much faith in me, do you?”
“Not as a rule, no. I know you too well to have the blind faith the others have in your ability to get yourself out of trouble. You’re better at getting yourself INTO trouble.”
“Well, we all have to be good at something.”
