Author:
Characters: Ianto, Jack.
Rating: PG
Written For: Challenge 899: Fog, at
Spoilers: Nada.
Summary: Ianto has a question.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
“Why did you recruit her?” Ianto hadn’t meant to say that out loud, but it had been something he’d been wondering about since Gwen’s first day on the job, when she’d thrown a chisel, let loose a sex gas alien, and caused multiple deaths. Yes, accidents happened, and no, that one couldn’t have been predicted, and okay, first days on the job with Torchwood could be a bit… iffy, but still, that level of complete incompetence was hard to beat.
If Ianto had been in charge of retconning her, he would have used a stronger dose. She’d suffered a recent head injury; any amnesia could have been easily explained away.
Jack sighed, his gaze following Gwen as she stomped off in a huff, after Jack had put his foot down regarding another one of her unworkable schemes.
“Honestly, I don’t know. All I can do is plead incapacity. I was still recovering from being shot in the head.”
Ianto raised an eyebrow. “What does that have to do with anything?”
“Post-death brain fog is real. I should not be allowed to make big decisions right after reviving, when I don’t know left from right.”
“That does explain a few things.”
