A/N: Double drabble.
“Sometimes,” Dee said, poking around under the hood of his car, “I wonder if maybe I would’a been better off as a mechanic. With cars, it’s not so hard to figure out what the problem is and fix it. Maybe ya gotta buy a few new parts, rip out what’s not workin’ and replace it, but then when it works like it should… Feels great. Bein’ a cop though…”
“I know,” Ryo said, handing his partner a wrench. “Can’t fix everything that’s wrong with the world as easily as fixing cars. Some people commit crimes to survive, some because they don’t think, some just because they can, and some because they’re so twisted up inside that they want to hurt anyone and everyone.”
“And some just do it for the money, or ‘cause someone’s got somethin’ they want.”
“That too. Cars are definitely simpler.”
“And they don’t complain, or threaten to sue ya over whatever. Police brutality when they’re the one holdin’ the knife they just stabbed ya with, or false arrest, when ya got ‘em dead to rights on four counts of extortion.”
“People are complicated.”
“Yeah, and most of ‘em don’t got the brains they were born with!”
