A/N: Triple drabble.
“Don’t get mad, get even.” That was what Jimmy Baranski’s dad had always told him, and it had worked well enough for him throughout high school. When Eric Millar had stolen Jimmy’s girlfriend, Jimmy had put sugar in the gas tank of his rival’s car, so it had broken down. Cindy had thought Eric had broken down on purpose, and had called Jimmy to rescue her from Eric’s clutches. And when Chuck Henderson had been bullying him, Jimmy had sent the police an anonymous tip about the gun Chuckie kept in his sports bag. Chuck had been expelled and sent to Juvie.
This time, however, things had gotten a bit out of hand. Jimmy had only wanted to get even with Dex. The man was an idiot, always stealing Jimmy’s lunch, Jimmy’s tools, hell, he’d steal Jimmy’s truck if he thought he could get away with it. The foreman had been no help, he’d told Jimmy to deal with it himself, so he had. He’d put a little extra in his lunchbox, and how was he to know Dex had allergies? All he’d done was spice up his lunch a little, but now Dex was in the hospital, and Jimmy himself was NOT having a good day.
“Jimmy Baranski,” Detective Maclean said. “You’re under arrest for assault, and for causing actual bodily harm.”
“I didn’t know that would happen! I wasn’t tryin’ to hurt him; I just wanted Dex to stop takin’ my lunch!”
Detective Maclean smiled sympathetically. “Nevertheless, I still have to arrest you. What you did to Mr Bronson counts as poisoning, even if that wasn’t your intention. Interfering with someone’s food is a crime.”
“But that’s just it! It was MY food. He would’a been fine if he hadn’t stolen it.”
“You can explain that in court.”
