A/N: Double drabble.
Staring out the window of the office he shared with his partner, watching the torrential rain and sleet hammering against the glass, driven by a gusting wind, Dee slid down in his seat and smiled. Days like this made him especially glad to have given up smoking; it was good to be inside, away from the foul weather, with no pressing need to step outside for a smoke.
A lot of his colleagues still smoked, and on occasion, when one of them offered him a cig, he’d be tempted to accept, but being a non-smoker had advantages beyond it simply being the healthier choice. Right now, thanks to the laws against smoking indoors, there were probably a bunch of guys sheltering in doorways, trying to keep dry while they satisfied their nicotine craving. All Dee had to do was slap on a patch and relax in the warm and dry. He probably shouldn’t gloat at his good fortune, quitting hadn’t been easy, but still, he couldn’t help feeling a bit smug.
Ryo leaned in the door. “Dee?”
“Yo!”
“Grab your coat and let’s go.”
“Go? Where?” And then with dawning horror, “In THIS?”
“New case.”
Karma could be a bitch.
The End
