A/N: Triple drabble. This one took an unexpected turn…
“Everything’s passwords and pin numbers for security these days,” Dee grumbled. “And we’re not supposed to write them down anywhere, or use the same ones for different accounts. How the hell are we supposed to remember ‘em all? The other day I started punchin’ my badge number in at the ATM ‘cause I got mixed up, and now my frickin’ internet security’s tellin’ me my email password is too weak and I should change it. I only just FINALLY got the damned thing memorised and now suddenly it’s not good enough? The digital age sucks.”
Ryo sighed. “I know. There are so many numbers and letters floating around in my head, last night when I went to phone my aunt on my landline, I dialled my mobile instead, then Bikky’s, and then the Chinese takeaway. By that point I was getting so confused I had to look up the right number.”
“Pretty soon, we’re all gonna be nothin’ but numbers. No one’s gonna have a name anymore, names are gonna be obsolete. We’ll just be assigned a random string of letters, numbers, and symbols at birth, and that’ll be our legal identity for the rest of our lives.”
“I think that trend’s already started. Have you seen what some parents are naming their kids?”
“I know, it’s criminal! Mother had a temporary placement for a couple weeks, ‘cause the mom was in hospital. Know what that poor baby was called? Viagra! We should be able to arrest anyone does somethin’ that evil to a kid. We can arrest ‘em for every other kind of child abuse, but not for stickin’ their kid with a godawful name they won’t be able to change until they’re an adult.” Dee shook his head.
Ryo nodded in agreement. “People have no common sense anymore.”
