“Why didn’t you just say no?” Jack grumbled, slouching moodily along beside his lover, intent on making his displeasure seen, heard, and felt.
“Because I have manners, and refusing would have been rude. Honestly, I don’t know what the big deal is.”
“We’re late!”
“How can we be late when we came out tonight without any plans for where we were going or what we’d do? The sum total of our plans was to go somewhere, get something to eat, maybe do something afterwards if we felt like it. I hardly think a few minutes out of our non-existent itinerary will make any difference.”
“I’m hungry!”
“You’re always hungry.”
“We could’ve already been eating by now if you’d just ignored those people!”
“If you’re going to complain about everything all evening, I might as well just go home and leave you to it.”
“This is supposed to be a date night!” Jack glared at his lover. “That means it’s about us, not about every Tom, Dick, and Harry that crosses our path!”
“You think I shouldn’t have helped those ladies find their way back to their hotel?” Ianto shook his head, laughing. “You’re jealous of two pensioners in their eighties!”
