Their boat rocked gently on the water as Ryo and Dee lay in their bunk, relaxed and sleepy after a day at sea, followed by an energetic round of two of sex. Really, there was no better way of unwinding from their demanding job than putting out to sea for a couple of days, far from the pressures of life, to recharge their batteries and make them feel years younger.
Not that they were old; mid-thirties was still young, more than a decade to go before either of them would have to start considering themselves middle-aged. But they were detectives in New York, and the kinds of things they saw in the line of duty sometimes made them feel old before their time.
Some cops took to drinking heavily to deal with the stress, but in Dee’s opinion, water was healthier. Not to drink, although there were times nothing hit the spot better, but to float about on, whether shooting the rapids on a river somewhere, or sailing on the ocean, far enough out that they couldn’t see the shore.
Out here, there was nothing but the sea, the sky, the weather, and each other. What more did they need?
The End
