Summary: Cycling up a hill is the hard part.

A/N: Double drabble.




The hill was long and while not too steep, the strain of pedalling up it was starting to tell on both of them; over his own harsh breathing and grunts of effort, Ryo could hear Dee puffing and panting behind him as they forced themselves not to give up. Getting off and walking would be the easy way out, but it would feel like cheating.


A month ago they wouldn’t have made it more than halfway, but cycling to work every day in the warm weather of early fall had strengthened the necessary muscles. There were only maybe fifteen metres left to go before they’d crest the rise, but every push of the pedals was harder than the one before.


The view when they finally reached the top was certainly worth it. They paused, almost falling off their bikes, to take it all in, and to catch their breath.


“Can’t believe we made it!” Dee gasped. “The only thing keepin’ me goin’ was the sight of your ass in those jeans.”


“I’m so glad my ass could be of assistance. The best part is yet to come though.”


“Oh yeah?”


“Yep! Now we get to coast all the way down!”
