A/N: Double drabble.
Seed catalogues were strewn across the coffee table as Dee and Ryo debated over what to grow in their roof garden come spring. The list Ryo was making already included no fewer than nine varieties of tomato, several kinds of beans, carrots, cabbages, lettuce, spinach, three kinds of peppers, onions, and a few other things.
“Zucchini,” Ryo said. “They did well this year, so we should grow them again.”
“And a couple of squash varieties, but not the one that went crazy and decided to grow down the side of the buildin’. We had to harvest those from the fire escape, usin’ one of your ski poles to pull ‘em close enough to reach.”
“They were a bit much for the limited space we had available. Tasty though.”
“Yeah, but we don’t want to risk ripe squash fallin’ on people’s heads. That could get nasty. Last thing two cops need is to get sued for reckless endangerment. Better to grow somethin’ a bit smaller.”
“Mm,” Ryo agreed. “I think I’d like to have a try at growing artichokes. And snap peas. Oh, and fennel.”
Dee shook his head. “The rate we’re goin’, gonna need a bigger garden than we got.”
