A/N: This one’s a triple drabble.




They’re a study in contrasts, one dark haired and olive skinned, the other light haired and pale skinned, one confident and one reserved, one worldy and one… sheltered, at least throughout his childhood and adolescence. One had a traditional family upbringing, the other… not. One’s an avid sports fan, the other would rather read a good book. Not that Dee has anything against books; they’re good, when there’s no sport to watch.


All in all, they could hardly be more different if they tried, but that’s okay, because opposites attract, right?


Well, Dee’s definitely attracted to Ryo, and he likes to think that the reverse is true, or will be, given enough time for Ryo to sort out whatever issues he has, because something’s obviously holding him back. There’s another contrast, because Dee is impulsive while Ryo likes to think things through, look at all angles before making up his mind on a course of action, and then stick to it. Dee sometimes wishes he could be more like that but… Nah, where’s the fun?


He can be patient when he tries, or when it’s something worth being patient for, like the man he works side-by-side with and desires more than he’s ever desired anyone before. Until he wins his heart’s desire he can live with whatever Ryo’s willing to offer him. Friendship, companionship, partnership… That’s nothing to be sneezed at.


As detectives, their very differences make them a great team, each bringing something unique to the job, an alternative way of looking at things, different talents and skill sets, and it all helps to increase their effectiveness at solving crimes and catching criminals.


Dee’s sure their contrasting personalities will make them equally unbeatable as a couple when they eventually become lovers. In fact, he’s willing to bet on it.
