Summary: Dee isn’t scared of heights, but shouldn’t a bridge be a little more substantial than this?

A precarious plank and rope bridge hung above the chasm, swaying with the wind. Far below, the river rushed, foaming white water seething over rocks; it was a daunting sight even for someone who didn’t mind heights.


Dee was no wimp, but still he baulked. “We have to cross that?”


“If we want to get to the other side without adding another ten miles or so to our hike.”


“Ten miles is nothin’. I don’t want to wind up on the rocks down there.”


“It’s perfectly safe. I’ll go first if you want.”


“Screw that.” Dee stepped onto the bridge.
