Spoilers: To The Last Man.
Summary: Tosh and Ianto have developed a very close friendship.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
At first glance, Tosh and Ianto might have seemed unlikely friends, but they had a great deal more in common than was immediately obvious. For instance, they were both quiet, reserved, highly intelligent people, and they both relished the challenge of solving the mysteries their work threw at them.
They also shared a love of hot curries, classic Star Trek, and languages; Ianto was teaching Tosh Welsh while she taught him Japanese.
Watching them sitting on the sofa beneath the Torchwood sign, heads close together, deep in a private conversation, Jack felt a pang of jealousy knowing they’d fall silent if he wandered over to join them. He was glad they’d found such close friends in each other, but he hated feeling like he was being left out.
Nevertheless, he quashed his resentment and reminded himself that he had no real reason to be jealous, especially not when Tosh was so badly in need of a friend after sending Tommy back to his own time.
If anyone could put a smile back on her face it was Ianto, and if that meant Jack had to spend a night or two without his lover, it was a small price to pay.

Date: 2019-07-23 08:36 pm (UTC)I'm useless at languages. Much as I'd like to learn Japanese, or at least learn t read kanji, my brain would never get it. Good luck to you though, you're braver than I am!
Thank you!

Date: 2019-07-23 08:53 pm (UTC)This is gonna be hella tricky, for sure. I've been watching a lot of Gaki no Tsukai over the past couple months, and I've picked up a few things; but hearing and learning a few phrases is a far cry from being able to actually read the words. And it's a damn sight more complicated than when I took French in school. I must be nuts. I'm good with languages, but...I think I've gotten in over my head.
