A/N: Triple drabble.
Dee sighed; shot down yet again! Looked like this was his cue to leave, not that he wanted to. He’d far rather stay, just hang out as buddies if that was all he was likely to get, but he doubted Ryo would believe him, expecting Dee to try his luck again now his initial pounce had been so firmly rebuffed.
“Whelp, guess I’d better head home and get some sleep.” Try to at any rate. “Tomorrow’s gonna be a busy day.”
“Yes, okay, I’ll see you in the morning.”
Did Ryo seem relieved that he was leaving?
‘Is he glad to see the back of me? Can I really blame him if he is? It’s not like he asked to be stuck with a partner who can’t keep his hands and lips to himself.’
“Goodnight, Dee.”
“’Night, bud.”
Was it always going to be this way, Dee lusting hopelessly for the unattainable, wearing his partner out with his unwelcome advances until Ryo finally got tired of fending him off and asked for a different partner, or worse, a transfer to another precinct? The thought of never working with Ryo again, never spending time with him, sent a cold chill through Dee; he couldn’t let that happen, but what could he do to prevent it?
‘Keep from pawin’ him for a start. If any moves are gonna be made I should maybe leave them to him, and if nothin’ ever ends up happenin’ between us then maybe I should try to accept that, settle for just bein’ friends. Better that than nothin’ at all.’
Dee slouched his way down the stairs, already missing Ryo. Still, just because he was resolved to give his partner some space didn’t mean he couldn’t still dream.
‘Yeah, right; nothin’ but fantasies to keep me warm.’
