A/N: Triple drabble.
Perhaps it was Ryo’s own fault, Dee certainly seemed to think so, but it had seemed so cute and harmless, a tiny little bundle of fluff, and it wasn’t as if he’d never handled small, furry animals before. There’d been the school gerbils Bikky had brought home over Easter, and Bikky’s own pet hamster, and the guinea pigs Ryo had owned as a boy.
Of course, they were all domesticated herbivores, and despite the occasional nip with their sharp little rodent teeth they’d done no lasting harm. This was a slightly different matter.
“I did tell ya not to try pickin’ it up,” Dee said, sitting beside his lover in the ER, the cause of Ryo’s embarrassing injury safely contained in an old tin with some airholes punched in the top.
“I know you did,” Ryo muttered, clutching the bloodstained dishtowel wrapped around his savagely chewed hand. Who knew something so small could have such a powerful bite? The tiny teeth had sunk so deep into his finger he’d felt them scrape the bone. Even when he’d let go, his attacker hadn’t.
“On the plus side, it’s not foamin’ at the mouth so it’s probably not rabid.”
The hospital would want to check to be sure, which was why they’d brought the little monster with them. Ryo just hoped whoever tested it had a pair of thick leather gauntlets for protection. They’d need them if they wanted to avoid his fate.
“I just never thought of chipmunks as vicious. They’re so little!”
“It’s all about deception; they’re demons with fur. Next time one gets inside your apartment, don’t try catchin’ it; let it find its own way out.”
“And have it scampering around chewing everything?” That idea filled Ryo with horror. “Maybe I’d be better off keeping the windows closed.”
