“This is the only way to travel!” Dee said with a satisfied smile, leaning on the bow rail as he sipped an ice-cold beer, enjoying the feel of the sea breeze ruffling his hair. “Doesn’t get better than this!”

“You said the same thing the last time we were out on your bike,” Ryo reminded him from where he was lounging on the foredeck. “Every form of travel has its good and bad points. You’ll be the first to complain if the wind changes direction and we have to fiddle with the sail to keep on course.” That had already happened twice.

“I suppose you’d rather be hiking.”

That had been their other option for the holiday weekend if the weather hadn’t been suitable for taking their new yacht out.

Ryo laughed. “Don’t think I’d get very far out here; never did learn to walk on water.”

Dee snorted. “Dumbass. Although… we could learn to water-ski.”

“Not sure the yacht goes fast enough; we’d probably need a nippy little motor launch and I’m not gonna be the one asking Bikky to shell out for yet another boat just because you fancy trying a new hobby. He’s already spent way too
much on us.”

“Yeah, it’s too bad the old cabin cruiser got busted up when that asshole hit the wrong button or whatever and backed his boat into our slip. He had no business bringin’ somethin’ that big into the marina.”

Dee was still sore about the fate of their previous craft, and Ryo didn’t blame him; their cruiser had been a write-off.

“We did get this shiny new yacht out of it though.”

Between the insurance, compensation, and Bikky’s generosity when he’d found out what had happened, they’d gone from a fairly modest cabin cruiser to this luxurious forty-foot yacht, something they could hardly complain about.

“Yeah, I guess.” Dee took another swig of his beer. “Seriously though, given the choice, which d’you prefer; hikin’ or sailin’?”

“You really have to ask? There’s no contest.” Ryo joined his partner at the rail. “This is the only way to travel.”
