Ryo jumped when Dee dumped a stack of something on the end of his desk. Without looking, he turned to glare up at his partner.
 

“No, Dee, we’ve been through this countless times before. I am NOT taking on your paperwork on top of mine. I thought I’d made that clear months ago!” Maybe he’d allowed Dee to turn him into a doormat when he’d first been promoted to detective, but that had been years ago. He’d long since put his foot down.

 
Dee just snickered. “Maybe you should take a look before gettin’ all bent outta shape. It’s not my paperwork.”

 
“It’s not?” Pushing his reading glasses back up from where they were resting on the end of his nose, Ryo turned to see a pile of glossy brochures.

 
“I passed a travel agent on my way to work this mornin’ so I stopped in to get some ideas. We’ve both got vacation time needin’ to be used up, thought maybe over lunch we could have a look, see where we might like to go. I was thinkin’ someplace sunny and warm, where the beaches go on forever.”

 
“Sounds good, assuming we can afford it.”
 

“We’ll find a way.”
