Ryo did his best to stifle a yawn but failed miserably; Dee would have noticed even if he’d succeeded.

 
“Am I borin’ you? I mean, I know recent events at the orphanage may not be the most thrillin’, but you did ask.”

 
“No, sorry, I’m just really tired after last night.”
 

“The brats keep you up late?”
 

“Let’s just say the term ‘sleepover’ is misleading. As far as I can tell, there was no sleep involved. There were late night movies, midnight kitchen raids, loud computer games, ghost stories by torchlight accompanied by screams and spooky noises, pillow fights, wrestling matches, trampolining on Bikky’s bed, rude jokes that had them all rolling around laughing their heads off…” Ryo sighed and yawned again. “Then they were demanding breakfast at the crack of dawn. It’s a good thing we’re not working today.”

 
“You should’a told me. We could’a postponed our day out.”
 

“But you’d already arranged everything; it didn’t seem fair.”
 

“What’s not fair is you bein’ too tired to enjoy a day at Coney Island. We can go another time.”
 

“Weather might not be as good next time we have a day off. I’m fine. Wake me when we get there.”
