Ready for another fic rec?

This one's relatively short, only 6 parts, and it's from March of 2008.

Past and Forever is by veronicaluv and is, according to the author, Vaguely spoilerish for the entire series, up until the last two minutes of "Fragments".

It's rated Adult for offscreen violence (involving torture), bad language, and non-graphic sex. The first chapter especially is quite gruesome, but please stick with it because it is, despite initial appearances, a love story.

There's no actual summary provided by the author, but suffice to say, something very bad happens to Ianto while he's trying to sort out his feelings for Jack.

Ah, sounds like it's time for a re-read! I love her stuff, especially the COE fix-it (which I can't remember the name of now but it's a classic!). I could have sworn her stuff was also somewhere else besides LJ, but can't find it on a quick search.

I need to make more of an effort to keep track of my favorite fics. I used to be religious at it with Sentinel, everything that was posted to the mailing list/archive I kept track of. Nowadays I don't even use bookmarks on AO3 - although I'm trying to get into the habit of using them. I'm going to start posting reccs here to, as I read something I love... If I can remember! Argh!

I love that one too. She's an awesome writer and I wish she was still writing Torchwood.

I've decided to post recs on Mondays, that way I know what I'm doing and I'm less likely to forget. Once it gets to be s habit it's a lot easier.

I'm fortune I saved so much Torchwood fanfic. I have a great many fics that have since been deleted.

You were smart! That gave me a thought: at least with the TW stuff on LJ, we know when something has been deleted, getting that lovely 'deleted and purged' message. I wonder if writers ever delete their stuff from AO3, and if they did, I guess we'd never know... Well, now that I depressed myself...

If you read something you like on AO3, just download the PDF, then you've got it saved, just in case.

Hah, I can barely remember to bookmark stuff. I'm trying to do better though. Awhile back I saved quite a bit of fic, and this weekend when I finally got around to saving some more I realized the others aren't on my hard drive. So I think they're on my old laptop and never got transferred not even to my backup drive. So now I have to find time to get them and whatever else copied from the old laptop while it's still functioning.

I'm in the habit of backing everything up before shutting down my computer, everything I've written and everything I've downloaded. I'm paranoid about losing stuff, lol!

Good habit to have! These things really should have been on my backup, since I keep it plugged in so making copies is easy. It's weird that they apparently aren't. When I switch computers that's usually the first thing I do, make sure my files are copied over.
