Summary: Angel still visits Buffy in her dreams.

A/N: Double drabble.
 


 
Even now, many years later, Angel still comes to Buffy in her dreams. The setting changes: sometimes they meet on a familiar street, or one she’s never seen before, sometimes she answers her door and there he is, and once in a while it’s like she dreamed shortly after she killed him to keep the world from literally being sucked into hell.

 
The sun is rising in a clear blue sky, the sand feels hot beneath her feet, and a soft breeze is blowing. She’s staring out across the ocean, breathing the clean, ozone-scented air, when his shadow falls over her and she glances up into his handsome face, unchanged by the years.
 

“You’re here.”
 

“I am,” he replies, smiling, his brown eyes warm and full of affection. “You should know I always will be, whenever you need me.”
 

“Wherever I go, you’ll always find me?” She remembers saying something similar to Angel in that other long-ago dream, or was it something he said to her?
 

“Always could, that hasn’t changed.” He brushes a strand of hair off her face with the gentlest touch.
 

“I miss you.”
 

“I know.”
 

And then she wakes, and she’s alone again.
 

It still hurts.
