Welcome to a rather overheated edition of Fic of the Week! This week's choice was originally posted in April 2010, but has since been updated. There are 33 chapters, but don't let that put you off.

The Eternal City is another fic by our favourite angst merchant angstosaur. It's a deliciously timey-whimey fic with plenty of angst, fluff, smut, sightseeing, time travel, and centurions. It's also a fix-it.

Summary: A trip to Rome for a short break takes on a new meaning for both Jack and Ianto.

I did, but I made the mistake of reading on LJ, not realising that the version on AO3 has been edited and tweaked. Still, I loved it, because I love angstosaur's fics anyway, and it's a fix-it, so YAY!

Ah yes, the problem of different versions. I've been thinking about that lately, because I've been editing my ML fic over on AO3. So now I have 3 versions: there, my hard drive, and the ML forum where I originally posted them. Nothing too major, mostly typos, but it annoys me and of course to have to edit 3 copies of each story... I can probably download the AO3, but the forum would prove difficult since stories are posted like entries, and there are a lot of notes, reader comments, even fun stuff like banners mixed in that I wouldn't want to lose. I can't just go in and wipe them out and repost the cleaned-up version. I guess I'll wait a few years until I feel like re-reading and fix them then. LOL. The good thing is, they aren't on DW. And no one really reads them anyway, so not such a big deal except for my perfectionist nature.

Some of my fics are posted in 5 places, and I only correct the typos on AO3... Too much work, lol!

Oh, right, duh. I was thinking of all the individual community postings on LJ and DW.

PS: I often think how lucky we are to have you practically single-handedly keeping the TW comms on LJ alive by posting your fics.

Well, I only cross post a header ad link to those - sometimes as many as 8 communities...

I want to keep them active. I know there are others I don't post to, but there's only so much I can manage.
