Summary: Jack can’t say Ianto didn’t warn him.

“It’s just a tiny chip,” Jack said dismissively when Ianto told him they needed to get the SUV’s windscreen fixed. A bit of loose gravel had been kicked up by the car ahead of them, nicking the glass on the passenger side.
 

"It might be just a chip now, but that doesn’t mean it’ll stay that way.”
 

“You worry too much. It’s toughened safety glass, much stronger than you get on most cars. It’ll be fine.”
 

The next time Jack took the SUV out, he arrived back with a massive crack right across the windscreen.

 
Ianto smirked. “Told you so.”

And that is why there are companies here that come to your house or your business and repair those cracks on site. :-) Jack should know better.He's lived in the UK for a hundred years.

We have AutoGlass. They fix chips and prevent them turning into cracks. Ianto knows this, it's quick and cheap, often paid for by insurance. Now the whole windscreen will have to be replaced. Sometimes Jack has to learn by making mistakes.

That's what we have. I didn't realize that was an international company. I was shocked when I was in London 25-7ears ago that there was a 7-11. That seemed wrong. It still does. We really do have to stop undoing cultures. Fast Food is bad enough, though when I was in German in high school on a school trip, I was relieved that there was a McDonald's. You really don't want to be assaulted by Liver Ball Soup. Ugh. You know it's bad when you're grateful for McDonald's.

We always had fast food, even before McD's and KFC. We had chip shops and takeaway Chinese and Indian food places. Out culture hasn't changed, it's just had a few additions.

I so much rather have Fish and Chips and Chinese and Indian. Yummy. There was a place in London when I was there that was so good. It was a little Falafel place. It was excellent. I wish me had more privately or family owned places that the big chains. Of course, some big chains are better than others.

I think the smaller places are probably there - although some may have been forced to close because of the pandemic - you just have to look for them and then give them your trade so they can keep going in these uncertain times.

We still have some, but not near enough.

Like all small shops, they need people to buy from them and spread the word.
