Summary: The weather takes Ianto by surprise.

A/N: Double drabble.
After weeks of rain and cold winds, the weather in Cardiff seemed to have suddenly remembered it was supposed to be summer. The day had dawned sunny and warm, with hardly a cloud in the wide blue expanse of the sky. It came as a bit of a shock, really.
Ianto had woken up in Jack’s cramped little cot, mostly on top of Jack, with a king-sized duvet draped over them both against the chill and damp. After getting showered, shaved, and dressed, he’d bravely volunteered to pop across the Plas and pick up something for breakfast. Shrugging into his coat, he’d picked up an umbrella, made his way up to the tourist office, and opened the door…
The sunlight almost blinded him. Dumping the umbrella and his coat, he stepped outside, relishing the warmth; after so much cold, dismal weather it was more than welcome.
Pulling his phone out, he called Jack, not bothering with a greeting. “Change of plans.”
“Is it that bad out?”
“Just the opposite; the sun’s shining!”
“You’re joking!”
“Not at all. Sunshine, blue skies… It would be criminal to waste it sitting around indoors. Come on out; the weather’s perfect.”
“I’ll be right there!”

Date: 2022-09-08 10:40 pm (UTC)I still remember the jubilee back in 1977, when we had a street party. It was a wonderful day. And then a few years back, eight years I guess, a big commemorative event where planes flew over Buckingham Palace, including the Red Arrows. I saw it on TV, and I'm in the Midlands, far away from London, but the Rec Arrows are so fast, and based somewhere up here. I heard the roar of engines and they flew right over my house. What are the odds? I saw the out my window.
I'm glad the Queen got to spend her last few hours at Balmoral, where she was so happy. She'll be reunited with Philip, and with her parents. She deserves to rest.

Date: 2022-09-09 05:37 pm (UTC)I just saw King Charles' speech. He had made William and Kate Prince and Princess of Wales and Duke and Duchesss of Cornwall among some of the titles that had been his. He also said something very sweet about Harry, which was a surprise. I'm watching the service at St. Pauls. That is the most beautiful cathedral. I was able to see that when I was there.
