Summary: Buffy ran from her new home to her old hometown, and yet home is still so far away.

A/N: Double drabble.
 


 
It’s funny, in a weird rather than humorous way. Buffy had lived in L.A. for most of her life; it was where her parents lived and worked, where she was born, where she grew up and went to school. For the first fifteen years of her existence, it had been her home. Then she’d been uprooted from everything that was familiar, taken to a small town along the coast where she’d had to rebuild her life, and now…

 
Now she’d fled her new life, returned to L.A., and somehow home had never felt further away.

 
She couldn’t call her dad; he’d just tell her mom where she was, and she couldn’t call her mom because she’d been told if she left not to bother coming back. She couldn’t even call her friends; talking to them would be too hard, but she missed them, and her mom, so much.
 

Coming here had seemed the best thing to do because at least L.A. was familiar, she could find her way around. That had to be better than going somewhere she’d never been before. But the familiarity made her homesick.
 

The worst part was knowing both her homes were lost to her now.

That's a powerful last line, and something I've never seen explored before during Anne.
