Ianto gave his cuffs yet another vicious yank, pulling them down even though they hadn’t had a chance to ride up since the last time. He paced the length of the small room, then back again, irritation and impatience in every step.
 

Jack watched his lover from where he lounged at ease in one of the hard chairs that furnished the waiting area.
 

“Relax and sit down,” he advised. “Pacing isn’t going to make time pass any faster, and if you keep pulling on your cuffs like that you’ll have them both off, buttons flying everywhere. How will that look?”

 
“We’ve been waiting for more than two hours, haven’t even been offered refreshments!” Ianto grumbled. “First we get ordered to London by the new Prime Minister, then we get ignored, as if our time is somehow less important than his.”

 
“It’s politics, he’s just trying to assert his authority over us.”
 

“Authority which he doesn’t technically have,” Ianto pointed out.
 

“True, but he’ll be put in his place soon enough, by someone with a lot more authority than we’ve got. I wouldn’t mind betting that’s why we’re still waiting. He’s on the phone getting his ass firmly handed to him.”
