A/N: Triple drabble.
“Ryo! What happened?” Bikky looked horrified at the bulky contraption supporting his foster-father’s left arm.
“It’s nothing, Biks,” Ryo made light of his injury. “Just a hairline fracture. Doesn’t even need a proper cast, just a splint. I know it looks weird, but it weighs a lot less than a cast.”
“Did you get into a fight? Was it a criminal you were arresting, a murderer or something?” While he’d never want to be a cop himself, Bikky still admired Ryo for being so brave, catching the very worst of the bad guys and putting them in jail where they belonged.
Flushing slightly, Ryo managed an embarrassed smile. “Ah, no, not exactly.”
“There was this pregnant lady, went into labour while trapped alone in an elevator. Ryo was incredibly brave, climbed down the elevator shaft and through the hatch in the top of the car to keep her calm until help arrived.”
“Wow, did you fall? Or did you break your arm prising the doors open?”
“Neither. As soon as I got in there, she grabbed my arm and wouldn’t let go. Felt like it was in a vice, she squeezed so hard I could feel the bones grinding together. We were only stuck in there for about thirty minutes, but it felt like forever.”
“Good thing the fire department got them out when they did,” Dee added, “Or Ryo would’a had to deliver the baby single-handed, literally. She had it in the ambulance ten minutes later, on the way to the hospital.”
“We stopped by to check on her after I got patched up. She thanked me and apologised for breaking my arm. She’s a lot stronger than she looks.”
“Did she name the baby after you?”
“No, Ryo doesn’t really work for a girl. She’s calling her Emma.”
