“If I was rich,” Dee said, “I’d buy a damned plane and take flyin’ lessons. Then when I wanted to get away for a couple weeks in the sun, I wouldn’t haveta sit around at the airport for hours ‘cause all the flights are delayed. I’d jump in my own plane and be outta here like that!” He snapped his fingers.

 
“No you wouldn’t,” Ryo replied, lounging beside him on the uncomfortable airport seats, his nose buried in his book.

 
“Whaddaya mean?” Dee glared at his lover.
 

“Even if you owned a plane and could fly it yourself, we’d still be stuck here. Nothing can take off in the middle of a snowstorm. The whole airport is snowed in.”

 
“Yeah? Well if I was rich enough to own my own plane, we could’a flown outta here weeks ago, before the weather got this cold. Either way, we’d be somewhere hot and sunny right now instead of stuck here waitin’ and missin’ out on part of our hard-earned vacation!”

 
Sighing, Ryo closed his book; clearly Dee wasn’t going to let him while away the long delay by reading.
 

“If I was that rich, I wouldn’t bother with a plane and flying lessons,” he said easily. “Not when I could rent one complete with pilot, or just travel first class.”

 
“So you’d still put up with flight delays, just waitin’ in the executive lounge?”
 

“Of course not, I wouldn’t even be here. I’d have bought a tropical island and moved there permanently.”
