There was an art to tailing a suspect, part of which was not to react if the person you were tailing looked back and saw you. Don’t duck into a doorway, don’t pretend to be looking in a shop window, just keep walking, not looking at the suspect. Walk right past them if necessary, because an effective tail was usually at least a two-person job.

When Freddie Conroy glanced back over his shoulder to check he wasn’t being followed, quickly scanning the people on the sidewalk, he saw a couple of people who’d been there last time he checked. One was a scrawny teenager, the other a harassed looking guy in his late twenties who was checking his watch and scanning the street. He looked straight past Conroy like he was looking for someone, and kept walking, not slowing as he pulled out his phone, tapping out a text.

Conroy smirked to himself; looked like the guy had troubles of his own; Freddie moved aside to let him pass. He had no idea Ryo was texting his partner, telling Dee to take over the tail.

Between them, the two-seven’s detectives followed Conroy all the way to his wanted brother’s hideout.
