“It was self-defence!” Dee said, scowling. “What was I supposed to do, just stand there and let myself be mauled?”
 

“Did you have to hit him so hard?” Ryo didn’t want to take sides, but Dee was taller and stronger…
 

“I didn’t hit him; I just pushed him! It’s not my fault he tripped. He attacked me and I reacted!”
 

“Yeah, but now look at him!” Drake was getting in on the act now, which Dee thought was a bit unfair. They’d known each other since their uniform days; Drake should be on his side.

 
“What the hell are you layabouts doing now?” the Chief bellowed, slamming his way out of his office to see what the commotion was about.

 
“Dee hit JJ,” Drake said, earning himself a glare from Dee.
 

“I did not! He tried to grope me, so I pushed him away! I’m not to blame for that!” Dee pointed. “You ask me, he got what he deserved. Maybe now he’ll finally get the message and back off.”
 

“He’s stuck!” Drake tugged again.
 

“Good. I didn’t put the trash bin there, so it’s not my fault he’s stuck in it. His ass must be bigger than I thought.”
