For no reason the Doctor could imagine, the lights inside the TARDIS suddenly became painfully bright, the sentient space and time ship shuddered, then the lights went out, coming back on dimly a few moments later.

 
Rose picked herself up off the floor. “Doctor? What just happened?”
 

“I’m not sure, an electrical surge of some kind, but what could’ve caused it?” The Doctor started checking readouts on the console, then spun on his heel. “Jack?”

 
Wandering into the console room, Jack smiled smugly. “You bellowed?”

 
“What have you been doing to my TARDIS?”

 
“Hey, don’t blame me. She started it!”
