Summary: Buffy knows the only reason she has survived this long is because she has friends.

Despite dying twice, although she’s not sure the first time really counts since she was only gone for a minute, Buffy has already survived longer than most Slayers. That’s quite an achievement. She’s not gonna brag about it though, not even to her Watcher or her closest friends; she knows it has nothing to do with her being more skilled than her predecessors, or braver, or better in any way. She’s just been lucky.

 
Unlike most Slayers, she’s had the help and support of her friends, not to mention a guardian Angel, and a… whatever Spike might be. Neutered vampire, enemy turned ally, way to vent her frustrations safely.
 

The point is, most Slayers in the past have only had themselves and their Watcher to rely on, while Buffy has been blessed with a support system made up of people who care about her and help her in whatever ways they can.
 

More than that, since her first brief death she hasn’t been the only Slayer. First there was Kendra, and then Faith, and okay, Faith may not be the most stable person ever, but she has helped. Some of the time.

 
The secret to survival is not being alone.
