Willow shuffled her notes and lesson plan into order. Teaching Ms Calendar’s computing class was an honour, but also a huge responsibility. She wanted to do this right, she owed it to Ms Calendar, and she had the late teacher’s own notes to work from, which was good, but at the same time she felt like a bit of an imposter.
She was just a teenager, taking the place of a fully qualified and experienced teacher, and she wouldn’t even be doing this if Angelus hadn’t murdered… Willow shut that thought down quickly. It wouldn’t do her any good to dwell on the reason she’d been asked to take over the class until a replacement teacher could be found. It would just upset her, and she didn’t need to burst into tears in front of her first class.
“I can do this,” she told herself. “Ms Calendar asked me to sub for her before, so she believed in me. This is no different to that time.” Even though she hadn’t actually needed to take the class at the time, she’d been ready, and she was ready now.
She smiled as the students shuffled into class. “Alright, class, let’s get started.”
