Time passed so quickly, and the older you got the more it seemed to fly. It was strange, looking back. Sometimes it felt like only yesterday that Ryo had started work at the twenty-seventh precinct, meeting his new work partner for the first time, and then the orphaned ten-year-old boy who was to become his son, and now…
Now Bikky was twenty-five, playing pro basketball for the L.A. Clippers, while Dee was not only Ryo’s work partner, they were lovers, living together for the past seven years, and they’d recently celebrated their second wedding anniversary. Where had all those years gone?
“What’re ya thinkin’ about that’s got ya lookin’ so serious?”
Ryo jumped as the familiar voice broke in on his thoughts. “What?”
“You’ve been sittin’ there starin’ into space for the past ten minutes. Just wonderin’ what’s on your mind and if I should be worried.”
“Time.”
“What, now?” Dee frowned at his husband in confusion.
“That’s what I was thinking about. Time, how fast it can fly, and where it’s all gone. So much has changed since the day we met.”
“Yeah, it has, but that’s good, right?”
Ryo nodded. “I never knew I could be this happy.”
