Thanks to his pale Welsh skin, even out here in the wider universe Ianto needed to be careful beneath alien suns, applying plenty of high factor sunscreen to avoid getting sunburn whenever he was going to be out and about on a planet’s surface. It was annoying, but he was used to it, and even though he was immortal, he still considered it necessary. Just because he healed fast, before he had a chance to reach the peeling stage, didn’t mean he relished turning bright red, itchy, and sore. Sunburn wasn’t fun.
“You won’t need your sunscreen here,” Jack told him as he was opening the bottle. “You can leave it behind.”
“Don’t be silly, Jack. Look at the weather out there!” Ianto pointed through the window, where a yellow sun larger than earth’s was shining in a cloudless cobalt blue sky. “I’ll burn the second I step outside!”
“No you won’t. You can’t, not here. This is one of only a handful of planets where nobody can get sunburn, because the upper atmosphere blocks all the harmful UV rays. You could walk around naked outside forever without even getting a tan.”
“Huh. I think I’ll wear clothes anyway, thanks.”
