A/N: Double drabble.
The whole of Cardiff, and the surrounding countryside, was muffled in a dense blanket of fog. It wasn’t so thick as to make navigation difficult, at least not if you were on foot, but driving would have been risky at best, so Ianto had set out for work on foot. Care had to be taken when crossing roads, because humans were idiots, and those who thought driving in thick fog was a good idea weren’t to be trusted, but other than that…
Ianto liked fog. He liked the way it made everywhere, even in the middle of a city, so quiet. He liked that all he could see beyond a few feet was swirling whiteness, that the ugliness of urban life was invisible. He even rather liked the feeling of being the only person in existence.
This early in the morning, when it was still dark out, there were few people about anyway, adding to the quiet, still, not quite eeriness. He paused to watch the shadowy shape of a fox flitting across his path, scarcely aware of his presence. The fog lent an air of mystery to even the most ordinary things; it was like being inside a cloud.
