Sheridan has got to be stopped, Garibaldi is more certain of that than of anything, except for how he feels about Lise. The problem is that Sheridan, the old Sheridan, was more than simply his commanding officer; he was a friend, someone Garibaldi had trusted more than he trusted most people, but now… Now they’re at odds, and that’s… It doesn’t feel good. Why would it?
It's clear to Garibaldi that Sheridan needs help. He’s delusional. Not about everything, he’s right about the danger Clark poses, but taking the president down my means of a military action is insanity! The only reason Garibaldi can think of for Sheridan to take such an action is that he wants to take over, seize power for himself, and the Sheridan Garibaldi knew would never do something like that!
So here Garibaldi is, on Mars, seeking help from William Edgars, because the man has more money than God, and if anyone is in a position to help Garibaldi stop his former friend before he goes too far, it’s Edgars.
Even so, Garibaldi doesn’t like what he has to do, he just can’t see any alternative. They’ll get to Sheridan through his father; it’s the only way. It means that Garibaldi will have to be the one to bait the hook, but he hopes Sheridan will understand someday why he had to do it. Betrayal leaves a nasty taste, but in this case, it’s the lesser evil. It’s no consolation, but it’s all Garibaldi has.
