Summary: Uprooted from L.A., Buffy is having to start over in a new town, and it’s not easy.

A/N: Double drabble.
 


 

The night sky over Sunnydale has so many more stars than Buffy ever saw over L.A., and it’s beautiful, but it makes her feel weirdly alone, because this isn’t home, it’s just where she and her mom had to move to after her parents’ divorce. Maybe it WILL feel like home someday, but it’s only been a week, and she’s still finding her way around. Everything feels too new, too unfamiliar, too strange, and she’s… out of place, adrift, with nothing to hold on to, like a ship lost at sea. It’s not a pleasant feeling.
 

Somehow, she’ll have to get used to the strangeness, learn to fit in, but she misses her old room, at her old house, her old friends, at her old school. She even misses the L.A. smog and the light pollution that hid the stars from view, because seeing them now makes her feel exposed. There’s nowhere to hide, not on a night as clear as this.
 

But L.A., and everything she left behind, is the past, Sunnydale is her present, and her future, at least for now, so she’ll just have to make the best of it. Things will get better. They have to.
