It had become standard practice by now that new Torchwood recruits would be taken Weevil hunting a few times by the more experienced members of the team and shown the ropes before being expected to handle rounding up the toothy aliens themselves. They needed to learn how to use the Weevil spray, hand-clamps, and hoods, as well as how and where to inject the sedative that would allow them to be transported safely.

The two newest recruits were, therefore, shadowing Jack and Ianto on a hunt. It was just unfortunate that as demonstrations of proper Weevil-capturing practice went, this one lacked a certain something.

Chasing the rogue Weevil into an alley, running flat out, Jack somehow managed to trip, slamming headfirst into the alien as it turned to face him, both of them going down together in a tangle of flailing limbs.

Ianto winced as he dragged Jack off and sprayed the Weevil before securing its clawed hands.

“For the record, in case anyone was wondering,” he said as he shook out the hood, “That is not the recommended way to tackle a Weevil.” He poked Jack with the toe of his shoe.

Jack groaned. “Ow.”

“Don’t follow Jack’s example.”
