No matter how happy anyone was on any given day, there was always sadness just around the corner, be it something devastatingly tragic like the loss of a loved one, or something minor, like someone else eating the last chocolate you’d been saving as a treat. Right now, Ianto was sad because his suit pants would no longer fasten, and it was all Jack’s fault! He sat on the bed, trouser button still unfastened, as tears rolled down his face.
“Ianto! What’s wrong?” Jack dropped to his knees in front of his husband, taking Ianto’s hands.
“My trousers won’t do up! I’m getting all fat and lumpy, I’ll have to stop wearing suits, and then you won’t fancy me anymore!”
“Of course I will! I married you, didn’t I? I don’t marry just anyone!”
“No, just the ones you get pregnant. Why did you do this to me?”
“It wasn’t intentional, I didn’t even know it was possible, and I would’ve married you even if you weren’t pregnant.”
“Really?”
“Of course! As for the suits, we can put them away until after the baby’s born. The most important thing is for you to be comfortable.”
Ianto burst into tears again.
