“What WILL happen if all those eggs hatch before the parents fix their ship and come to claim their offspring?” Ianto asked as he handed Jack his coffee before perching on the edge of the desk, his own mug cradled in both hands.
“I’m just really hoping we won’t have to find out,” Jack admitted. “Not that I regret offering to lend the Obbli a helping hand or ten, it’s good for Torchwood’s reputation; we’re here to HELP other races, not harm them, but…” Jack paused to slurp from his mug.
“But you didn’t think things through, did you?”
“I sort of did, I just forgot to ask how close the eggs were to hatching, and what to do if they did. Mind you, the parent who transported them down here was in a bit of a rush to get back, so there wasn’t a lot of time for questions.”
Ianto sighed. Jack’s heart was in the right place, even if the same couldn’t always be said for his brain. “I suppose we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed, and deal with whatever happens. I think I might work in the kitchen though, to keep an eye on things.”
