“Damn, it’s crowded!” Dee grumbled as he and Ryo merged with the throngs of people swarming back and forth along the boardwalk. “Looks like everyone in New York had the same idea!”
Ryo chuckled. “What were you expecting? It’s the Easter weekend, the sun’s shining, everybody who isn’t working has decided to make the most of the good weather while it lasts, including us.”
“Yeah, but…” Dee sighed; he and Ryo only had one day off over Easter, and he hadn’t envisioned spending it fighting his way through this crush. “Maybe Central Park might’a been a better choice than Coney Island.”
“The park’s probably just as crowded, Dee. We can still have fun.”
“How? Queues for rides are gonna be a mile long!” Dee stared gloomily at the invading horde. “Wonder what this place is like out of season.”
“Times Square, right after New Year, when the crowds have gone home.”
“Yeah, sounds right. A ghost town in the middle of the city that never sleeps. Maybe we should come out here off-season, check it out.”
“What for? None of the rides would be operational, it would just be cold winds blowing trash about.”
“But we’d be the only people.”
The End
