Summary: Better to run away that to get killed.

The TARDIS spun, out of control, whirling through the emptiness of the void; that was fortunate because there was nothing around for it to collide with. Inside, the Doctor clung to the console, eyes tightly closed, although that failed to make him feel any less dizzy.
If he could have shut the time and spaceship down, he would have, gladly; he wasn’t enjoying the constant spinning, but this was a life-or-death situation, and personally, the Doctor’s preference was for life. He was sure the TARDIS would agree.
So they fled, to avoid annihilation. Sometimes escape was the only sensible option.
