Owen of course, taking his usual childish delight in playing practical jokes on his teammates, thought it was hilarious making fun of the new guy with his fanatical neatness and his completely impractical, immaculate suits. Who dressed like that in a job that involved so much mud, blood, and alien guts? It seemed to him that Ianto Jones had a lesson or two to learn about working for Torchwood Three; it wasn’t a cushy office job like he’d known at One.


“Oops,” he declared with a smirk as he flicked a healthy dollop of alien innards so it slithered messily down the front of Ianto’s charcoal grey pinstripe, leaving a wide greenish steak behind. “How clumsy of me. Hope I didn’t ruin your suit.”


Jones looked down at the mess. “No problem, Doctor Harper,” he said mildly. “I’ll just clean it up with this.” So saying, he picked up Owen’s new jacket and with a bland smile wiped the smear from the front of his suit, then stooped to clean up the splatters on the floor.


Owen looked on, speechless, as Ianto straightened up and shook out the garment.


“Oops, thought this was an old cleaning rag. Sorry, my mistake.”
